Well, in a couple of hours (or less) I'll get a bit of soup into me. I'm still feeling perfectly well, but the reality of family gatherings and grey cup parties are puching my hand in the direction of food.
Its somewhat sad, as my tongue is now seriously coated, implying that there is still a lot of stuff inside of me that could come out. I believe that I will have another try at this, most likely next middle of next year, as that will be winter in Australia - a more logical time of fasting than over the Christmas holidays.
I wanted to see if this fast was doable to someone who loves food, and that, I can say quite conclusively, I have done. I have done water only fasts in the past, and I find a one-day version of that more difficult than this three-day endeavor, as there is little trauma of any sort in this diet.

Day 3
Yesterday was an interesting day. I am a half time stay at home dad, so I worked in the morning, then took care of my 20 mo daughter, Piper, in the afternoon. I was really quite tired by the afternoon, so I was lying in bed, while she crawled around me and ran up and down the hallway with a roll of toilet paper in hand...
Once she was asleep, I slept as well for 1.5 hours. When I woke up, within 30 mins, I was what only can be described as euphoric. This feeling lasted through to the end of the day, which is great.
(BTW - can you tell that I'm a code-monkey in real life with my nested paranthesis?

Flashback: this morning I tried my first salt-water flush. Drinking that much salt-water made me feel a bit sick, but it ran through the body as desired and I was done in about 45 mins. I wasn't much good for anything during that time, so I believe I'll only do this every other day in the real fast.
This morning (start of day 3) I awoke rather early (for me) and have felt good so far. The tea laxitive does to its job, and for the first time, I felt a little discomfort in terms of bloating and some gas (which you don't wanna let go in bed cause who knows if its actually just gas (not that I've found this out first-hand, thankfully)).(BTW - can you tell that I'm a code-monkey in real life with my nested paranthesis?

Morning blues
Good morning. After a great night of sleep, interrupted several times by my daughter's restless sleep, I woke this morning to a distinct need to head to the loo. Seems the herbal laxitive tea is a wonder drug indeed.
Now, having just consumed 1 liter of brackish water, I'm waiting for the inevitable once again... crazy these things that we do to ourselves sometimes? Might be better being an animal - that way at least I'd be completely driven by instinct - and this ain't based on instinct, that's for sure.
However, I'm feeling fine - my tongue is white but not yet gross, I'm able to keep a level head most of the time, if a bit grumpy, and the day has begun.
On an unrelated note, it looks like this version of the fast is little more than a trial run...I will be bailing out on Thurs night, to be ready for a family gather ing on Sunday. I figure that even a short fast (3 days) is better than nothing, and it will show me whether or not I'm able to stick with this thing...cause I figure the first bit is the hardest...
But, it appears the salt water is knocking at the door, so adieu...

Background research
I'm about to attempt a bit of the master-cleanse fast. It appears that this won't actually cause any harm to my system, and in fact it could do some good, though I'm feeling well and don't have any chronic conditions of any sort.
However, I'm also, by nature, a bit of a skeptic, so I thought that I might take a bit of time over the next week what I am doing, and alongside my actual experience, document a few links that contain alternative views of this alternate therapy.
My approach will be simple, at this point. Using the Master clease website as the source document, I'll read until I find something that twigs my skepiticism meter, then head off to find out what the net says about it.
The first one of these that jumped out was the term Mucoid plaque. It seemed a specific term that I could learn more about. A quick scan showed that this is a portal to dissenting views. For a good summary, check out http://quackfiles.blogspot.com/2004/12/mucoid-plaque-dubious-idea.html.
Anyway - its a start.

Welcome to the online world
Hello self. You are now online. Of course, you were online for a long time already at www.becandgord.net, but this is a place where you can rant faithfully, for, oh, 2 days before getting bored and moving onto something else...
